Rocco Siffredi Honored by Hometown As Notable Citizen
ORTONA, Italy — Rocco Siffredi will be honored by his native region later this month, when he receives the “Premio 28 di Dicembre” award, given by the Ortona municipality, in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo, to local notable figures.
These end-of-the-year municipal awards are customary in Italy, and equivalent to the U.K.’s knighthood lists around the same time annually.
Since the “Premio 28 di Dicembre” was established in 1958, only 27 notable figures from Ortona have been honored as those “who have illuminated Abruzzo’s tiny town with glory,” Mow Mag — an Italian lifestyle publication which provides most of the local coverage of the adult industry — reported yesterday
This year, mayor Leo Castiglione announced that the prize would go to one of Ortona’s “most famous fellow citizens ever”: Rocco Siffredi, born there as Rocco Tano seven years after the awards were introduced.
“This award,” city hall said through a statement, “was created to project our city on an international level, and Rocco Tano certainly represents a character well known by an audience that goes well beyond our national borders “.
According to Mow News, the award ceremony is currently being prepared at the Tosti Theater, including a short video introduction followed by a “thank you” speech by the awardee.
“I’ll be there, with the whole family,” a proud Siffredi told Mow News.
Ortona will be featured prominently in Siffredi’s biographical “Supersex” Netflix fiction series.
